A business with a bad sign is a sign of bad business.

Signs we’ve built

From engraved panels cut in our shop to cork maps, chalkboards and exterior signs sized for the parking lot.

Laser-engraved wood sign reading Rosewood Pizzeria above the kitchen pass-through
Engraved hardwood

Rosewood Pizzeria

A laser-engraved hardwood header over the kitchen pass-through, with script and block lettering and a checkerboard band. It’s cut into the wood, not printed on it — so it reads as part of the room.

Forever Rox Fine Jewelry sign with gold script and a diamond on a white face in a black frame
Blade sign

Forever Rox Fine Jewelry

A hanging blade sign for a covered walkway. Painted acrylic letters sit raised off a white face in a black frame, so the gold script casts a real shadow and reads from both directions. Built in our shop, hung on site.

Exterior sign with gold lettering above the entry at Lake Tahoe Karate
Exterior panel

Lake Tahoe Karate

An exterior panel over the entry breezeway. Gold lettering on a dark background, sized to read from the parking lot — not just from the door.

Incline Crest II entry sign with raised green letters and pine trees on a shaped panel between two wood posts
Monument & post sign

Incline Crest II

Entry sign for the Incline Crest II community, built in our shop. Laser-cut acrylic letters and laser-cut pine trees on a marine plywood panel, finished in exterior paint and set on 4x4 wood posts.

Live-edge wood slab engraved with the word TAHOE, a sun and waves
Engraved wood

Tahoe Live-Edge Slab

Not every piece hangs over a door. This live-edge slab was engraved on our laser with TAHOE down the grain, framed by a sun and lake waves. The customer wanted a coat rack, so we added bent railroad spikes as hooks.

Barn wood sign with a Lake Tahoe-shaped chalkboard reading Stay Tahoe Strong, with key hooks along the bottom
Barn wood & chalkboard

Stay Tahoe Strong

Built by hand: Lake Tahoe cut out of barn wood and filled with chalkboard, hand-lettered in chalk, with hooks along the bottom for keys.

Map of Massachusetts made from wine corks on a recycled barn wood sign, with the PLH logo and an arrow pointing to 02124
Cork & barn wood

Landmark Public House

Built by hand for Landmark Public House in Dorchester, Boston: wine corks on recycled barn wood from California, lit from behind with LEDs.

The Ice Cream Bar sign in white letters on barn wood, with an ice cream cone as the letter I and the PLH logo, above a walk-up window
Barn wood sign

The Ice Cream Bar

Built by hand the same way for Landmark Public House’s walk-up ice cream window: recycled barn wood, white lettering and a cone standing in for the “I.”

Newfound Lake made from wine corks on dark wood planks with blue backlighting, lettered Newfound Lake Inn, Bridgewater, NH
Backlit cork map

Newfound Lake Inn

Built by hand for Newfound Lake Inn in Bridgewater, New Hampshire: the lake pieced together from wine corks on dark-stained wood, with blue LEDs glowing behind it and the inn’s name in white.

Why a marketing team makes signs

Your sign is part of your Google listing.

We’re a local search agency first. Google ties your Business Profile to the real world — and the sign on your building is a big part of that.

Google expects a permanent sign.

Google’s guidelines say businesses that show their address on Google should keep permanent, fixed signage with their business name at that address.

Google Business Profile guidelines

The names should match.

Google wants your Business Profile name to match the name you use on your storefront, website and stationery. We check that your sign and your listing say the same thing before anything gets built.

Google Business Profile guidelines

It helps if Google asks you to verify.

When Google asks for video verification, it wants to see your business name on a permanent fixture — like a signboard, wall or window.

Google video verification

New sign, new photos.

Google says exterior photos help customers recognize your business when they visit.

How it works

How a sign project runs

  1. Send us the space

A photo of the wall, storefront or room, plus a rough size. That’s usually enough to start.

  2. Get a direction and a price

Materials, how it’s built, and an honest number — including whether a cheaper approach would work just as well.

  3. Approve the proof

You see the artwork before anything is cut. Spelling, spacing and proportions get settled on paper.

  4. We build it

In our shop or through our sign partners, depending on the sign.

  5. We install it

We oversee every install. Outside our area, or have your own installer? We’ll ship it.

Pricing

What a sign costs

Every sign is quoted to the job, and quotes are free. These are the things that move the price.

FAQ

Sign questions, answered

Don’t see yours? Ask in the quote form below.

Do you make signs for businesses around Lake Tahoe?

Yes. We’re based in Incline Village, Nevada, and our sign work is around the lake — restaurants, retail storefronts and studios.

What kinds of signs can you make?

Most of them. Engraved wood and dimensional letters come off the laser in our own shop, and we build wood monument signs there too. Lit cabinets, channel letters, metal fabrication and large-format graphics are made by commercial sign partners. You deal with us either way.

Do I need a permit for a business sign at Lake Tahoe?

Often, yes. Signs in the Lake Tahoe Basin have to meet TRPA’s sign standards (Chapter 38 of the TRPA Code of Ordinances) and any local plan — and where the two differ, the stricter rule applies. Some sign work is exempt from TRPA review.

In Washoe County (which includes Incline Village and Crystal Bay) and Douglas County, sign work that isn’t exempt is submitted to TRPA. In South Lake Tahoe, Placer County and El Dorado County, some sign work can go through the local building department instead. Landlords often have their own sign rules, too.

Send us your address up front — it’s cheaper to design around the rules than to redo a sign. Source: TRPA Sign Information Packet.

Do you install, or just build?

Both. We oversee every installation around the lake. If you’re outside our install area or have your own installer, we’ll ship the sign to you.

What file do you need for my logo?

A vector file — AI, EPS, SVG or PDF — is best, because it scales cleanly to any size. A JPG or PNG can work. If all you have is a photo of your current sign, we can redraw it.

How long does a sign take?

It depends on the sign, the materials and whether a permit is needed. You’ll get a timeline with your quote.

Can you match our existing signs or brand?

Yes. Send a photo of what’s already up, or your brand colors and fonts, and we’ll build to match.

Why buy a sign from a marketing agency?

Because your sign is part of how customers find you. Google expects businesses that show their address to keep permanent signage there, and wants your listing name to match your storefront. We handle both sides, so what people see on the street matches what they see on Google.
